Climate Change

& Responsible Travel

GeoWorld Travel takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously and we do everything we can to minimise the environmental impact of our tours. To this end, we offset all the carbon generated by our tours using carbon offsetting company Carbon Footprint. We also believe strongly in the principles of Geoconservation and Geoethics. GeoWorld Travel's Director, James Cresswell, is a Member of the International Group for Promoting Geoethics, and makes sure all the tours conform to the group's standards. Additionally, GeoWorld Travel is an active supporter of UNESCO Global Geoparks. Our company is based within the Fforest Fawr Geopark  and Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Not only do we wholeheartedly support our home geopark, where we are an accredited ambassador and run several day tours, but we try to support the wider network of global  geoparks by including them in our tours whenever possible. For a full list of geoparks we visit please click here.

Climate Change and Carbon Offsetting

On completion of each GeoWorld Travel trip, the company will offset the amount of carbon used to transport the group during the tour, and will offset the carbon used to transport the guide to and from the start of the tour.

Following the joint recommendation of Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and WWF (see pdf statement below) we choose to offset our carbon on the projects which have been accredited by the Gold Standard.

The cost of the tour's carbon offsets are included in the tour price. However, offsetting carbon generated from your transport to and from the start and end of the tour is your own responsibility. If you would also like to offset this carbon, please use the calculator and links below.
